Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not satisfied with my purchase?  We want our customers to enjoy our products as much as we do! If you are not satisfied with a purchase from us, please notify us as soon as possible. We are a small family farm operation and cannot offer glitzy guarantees, but we CAN offer our desire to work with you in a reasonable manner to resolve discrepancies.

What methods of payment do you accept?  We currently accept only PayPal, but you may use your credit card on PayPal without registering as a PayPal user.  We can also send custom invoices via Square.  Please e-mail us to discuss that option.  At events, we accept cash and credit cards.

Which shipping methods do you use?  We ship via USPS Priority Mail Flat-Rate (which automatically includes shipping confirmation) to U.S. addresses only. We do not ship overseas except to APO addresses. We cannot be responsible for lost, misdirected or damaged mail, but we can furnish you with a USPS tracking number, should the need arise.

Can I return a product?  Due to the nature of the products we sell, we cannot accept returns. However, we will ask you to return any damaged or otherwise unacceptable item for our quality control purposes, at your expense, please, if you are requesting a refund or replacement (exact item only). We will work with you to determine the best course for reimbursement (replacement or refund, if appropriate.) Although we try hard to accurately describe the scent of our products, let's face it--it's really not possible. What we may think of as warm and sunny may spark the cool and shady notes in another nose. The beauty of scents is in the nose of the beholder. Please contact us within 15 days from the date of purchase if you are not happy with your Shady Lane Farm product(s).

Do you accept custom orders?  We generally do not accept individual custom orders, however, we welcome inquiries regarding wedding favors (bulk quantities of guest-sized soaps) or bed and breakfast bars (guest-sized soaps and/or shampoos in quantities of 24). We may or may not be able to accept a custom order of this type, depending upon our schedule and our inventory. (it never hurts to ask!) Please allow a minimum of 6 weeks for custom orders.  E-mail us through our Contact Us page for more information.

What if I have sensitivities to smoke or chemicals?  Our home is smoke-free, therefore so are our products! Please be aware that we scent our soaps ONLY with essential oils--we never use artifical fragrances (synthetic fragrance oils). However, some sensitive noses may still object to the mild scents in our products. We offer several "unscented" soaps, which have no scent other than what naturally occurs in the process of saponifying oils.  See our product listings for complete descriptions.
